Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Hackathorn, a visual storyteller specializing in wildlife and environmental conservation. Through design, photography, and multimedia storytelling, I help organizations and communities translate science, place, and purpose into engaging visual narratives. While I work with clients across the country, my inspiration is deeply rooted in the coastal landscapes of Charleston, South Carolina.
I began my career at the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, collaborating directly with biologists and researchers to make marine science and conservation accessible to the public through thoughtful design and photography. I also served for four years as a volunteer board member for the Charleston Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, creating outreach campaigns and educational materials focused on protecting our oceans, waterways, and coastlines.
Today, as a full-time freelance designer and photographer, I partner with government agencies, nonprofits, environmental organizations, and mission-driven brands to create compelling visual storytelling that inspires connection, stewardship, and action.
Let’s work together.
